RESEARCH POLICY FOR MSCEIT USE

The test authors do not own the rights to the MSCEIT! The MSCEIT is published by Multi-Health Systems, Inc of Toronto, Canada. MHS will subsidize some of the costs for research use of the MSCEIT for qualified academic researchers!  The test authors do not own the rights to the test.  Please read the following information carefully to understand your options and how to obtain the MSCEIT.  MHS can offer the MSCEIT to researchers at up to an 80% discount - $5 US per subject - if you follow the steps below. Pricing is NOT up-to-date -- contact MHS for current prices please!

MSCEIT OPTIONS FOR RESEARCH USE

First, determine if you qualify for any research discount by completing the forms on the MHS website. 

Second, determine how your research participants will take the MSCEIT.

1-     Can you administer the MSCEIT on-line?  This will be your most cost-effective option!

2-     If you cannot administer the MSCEIT on-line, you will need to purchase printed MSCEIT Item Booklets.  These are full-color, and can be re-used.  MHS will score the answer sheets and return the information to you in about 2 weeks.  

Third, determine the format for your participant data.

1-     You can receive a 20+ page Resource Report for each participant.  This is typically used in giving clients MSCEIT feedback.

2-     Or, you can receive the participants’ scored data in an Excel spreadsheet file.  This is the most cost-effective option, and the one that will likely best meet your research needs.  It also means that you do not have to enter any data by hand, saving a good deal of time and possible errors.

Your most cost-effective option for research use would be to -

1)      Administer the MSCEIT on-line   AND 

2)      Receive participant data in an Excel spreadsheet file.

Please note that MHS cannot provide a 'scoring key'.  MHS will score the MSCEIT and return all scores to you.

ONLINE VERSION - WITH CLIENT SUMMARY REPORT

You will need to purchase the manual and the desired amount of summary reports. Upon filling out researcher forms, MHS may apply a 30% research discount to the standard prices (your researcher price is listed in the Research Price column.).  However, we encourage all researchers to request a scored data set, rather than a client summary report.  

Administer on-line, receive a summary report for each participant.

ONLINE VERSION WITH SCORED DATA SET

PAPER VERSION WITH SCORED DATA SET

They only want scored data sets.  In this case we ask that you purchase the manual at full price ($55.00), the item booklets at full price ($40.00) and you will receive a discounted rate of $15.00 per scored data set.  You will have to indicate to us how many scored data sets you are expecting, as we will charge you for the scored data sets in advance.  This option is available to qualified, academic researchers who fill out the required forms and meet the requirements.  It takes about 2 weeks for your data to be processed by MHS.  Contact me if your research protocol includes providing research participants with test feedback.

 MHS Contact Information

The R&D group at MHS handles these requests. Call MHS and ask for extension 305 or r_d@mhs.com to speak to the Research Applications Agent. The exact person assigned to handle these requests changes often.  

Qualified researchers will need to provide MHS with information about their project and their affiliation.  Please have all of the necessary forms ready when you contact the R&D department at MHS.  These forms, and more information, may be found at the MHS web site.

If your research protocol includes providing research participants with test feedback.  We have several user-friendly means to do so, including a detailed written client report. 

If you decide that you would like to use the paper version, you will need to purchase the manual. You will also need to purchase item booklets at $40.00.  They come in a package of three and are reusable.  Finally, you will need to purchase summary reports. A 30% research discount can be applied to these prices if you fill out the required forms and meet the requirements.  (Your research price is listed in the Researcher Price column.)   It takes about 2 weeks for your reports to be processed by MHS.

MSCEIT Translations

The translation process is very lengthy and quite complex.  It requires multiple translators, back-translation, norming and other steps. Contact MHS for additional information: translations@mhs.com
