David on CNBC TV: "Cavs owner goes off"

I was on live TV in July 2010. It was a last-minute sub for a Yale School of Management regular. Not sure if I would do this again, but it was an interesting experience.  As you'll see, I did not get much air time. To no one's surprise, it was my first experience with live TV!

This CNBC clip appears on their web site, www.cnbc.com.

The idea that emotion must be scrubbed from statements makes sense only if you are a poor emotion regulator, lack accurate emotional perception or understanding. Certainly, this NBA owner's statement was over the top and a bit mean, and he seems to be a poor emotion manager. However, the anger can be used to motivate him to field a great team and motivate fans to stick by their beloved team. What Gilbert may have missed, though, was the mixed emotions people may experience afterwards - the anger of rejection, as well as the pain of loss.
